Christian Faculty and Staff Network gathering on 2/9 - Guest speaker: Wales Goebel

Join us on Wednesday, February 9, at 11:45 AM (done by 12:45 PM). We meet at the Baptist Campus Ministries building library (University Boulevard and 4th Avenue), and lunch will be served! 

Meeting logistics

Wales Goebel, founder of Wales Goebel Ministries, Vestavia Hills Sav-a-Life, and catalyst of a revival and reconciliation at Woodlawn High School depicted in the movie, Woodlawn, will join us in person to give us ideas about how relationships help us stay the course.

Lunch is provided by churches in the area.

  • It's $1 per meal, the best meal deal in town. You're welcome to be eating your lunch during the gathering.
  • You have the choice of paying by the meal or making a single payment to cover the semester.

Alan Tidwell, Sean Mobbs, and Bob Brooks shared core concepts about God's view of personal finance as panelists on Thursday, February 3 at the Baptist Campus Ministries Chapel. 22 students attended and had the opportunity to interact with the panelists. Memorable ideas:

  • From Alan Tidwell: The power of compound interest.
  • From Sean Mobbs: Build the right habits early.
  • From Bob Brooks: Keep yearnings less than earnings. 

Coming up 

Trillia Newbell, author of Sacred Endurance, is scheduled to join us via Zoom on 3/9 for a Q&A session about the ideas behind her book. It will be a Q&A session. If you have a question you'd like to ask, reply back to me, and I'll put it on the list.

Christian Faculty and Staff Fellowship meets November 28

  I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoyed the time off. We'll resume on 11/28 with a visit by Jennifer Waddell , Athletes in Action , thanks to Phil Bishop.   Next semester's book: Love Your God with All Your Mind: The Role of Reason in the Life of the Soul by J.P. Moreland (NavPress, 2011). The title is linked to Amazon. Make sure to get the 2012 version. It's an updated version of the book from 1997. Moreland makes the case for the intellectual appeal and rigor of Christianity. It has a cultural, worldview, and apologetics outlook and is relevant to us who want to be salt and light in the groves of academe. The book can be a basis for other readings we would do.   Looking ahead: I came across this announcement for the Dallas Conference on Science and Faith in January 2019 .
