Christian Faculty and Staff Network gathering on 9/22 - Next discussion: Chapter 3 - Crazy Love
Join us on Wednesday, September 22, at 11:45 AM (done by 12:45 PM). We meet at the Baptist Campus Ministries building (University Boulevard and 4th Avenue), and (drum roll!) lunch will be served! At $1 per meal, it's the best meal deal in town.
Meeting logistics
Here's a little wrinkle. Weather permitting, we'll gather at the picnic tables by the front door of the building. That should give us an opportunity to enjoy some early fall weather. If the weather doesn't cooperate, we'll use our usual meeting room.
We'll discuss Chapter 3 of Francis Chan's Crazy
Love: Overwhelmed by a Relentless God. Here's a taste of what's in the
chapter:
- "Most of us, to some degree, have a difficult time
understanding, believing, or accepting God's absolute and un-
- limited love for us."
- "My existence was not random, nor was it an accident. God knew
who He was creating, and He designed me for a specific work."
- "…I don't have to worry about not meeting His expectations. God
will ensure my success in accordance with His plan, not mine."
- " So why, when we constantly offend Him and are so unlovable and unloving, does God persist in loving us?"

Food for thought
The CS Lewis Institute shared an essay on Biblical meditation by Thomas Tarrants.
- "Meditating on the Scriptures is vital practice for maturing in
the Christian life. As one anonymous writer said, 'The Bible is not meant
merely to inform but to transform.'"
- "…meditation is a devotional practice that we engage in with God’s help to know Him better, love Him more, experience closer communion with Him, and live for His glory."
These happened on the day of our meeting
- 286. Emperor Maximian is said to have executed members of the Theban
legion after they refused to renounce their faith.
- 1871. Charlotte Elliott died. In addition to writing devotions, she
authored the hymn, "Just As I Am."
