What is cultural engagement? Dr. Darrell Bock, Executive Director of Cultural Engagement at The Hendricks Center and Senior Research Professor of New Testament studies at Dallas Theological Seminary, says in a short interview it is part of carrying out the Great Commission. Cultural engagement involves understanding the culture one is in to be able to articulate the gospel in that culture. It also includes actions for the weak and vulnerable who are God's image-bearers.
These happened on 10/28
- 312. Constantine adopted the cross, claiming a vision from Christ
assured him of victory against rival emperor Maxentius at the Battle of
Milvian Bridge. This led to Christianity becoming the official religion of
the empire after Constantine became the first Roman emperor to become a
Christian.
- 1949. Missionary Jim Elliot wrote, "He is no fool who gives
what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose."
