Christian Faculty and Staff Fellowship meets October 31
We'll resume on October 31. Is it the end of October already? Wow, seems like only yesterday we were watching Tua throw that winning TD pass. Then again, it really was only yesterday since Alabama fans have probably watch that highlight every day this year!
Come
to the Christian Faculty Network lunch meeting on Wednesday, October 31 at
11:45 AM (done by 12:45 PM). We meet at the Baptist Campus Ministries building
(University Boulevard and 4th Avenue).
It's
also the best meal deal in town: You can get lunch there for $1 thanks to the
generosity of local churches. Don't forget to thank the church workers for what
they do for the students.
When
we meet on October 31, Bob Brooks will give a discipline talk. It promises to
be enlightening. He gave us a preview on 10/24, and it promises to spark a
great discussion.
Today
was a big day in the history of the church:
·
1517
Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the door of the church in Wittenburg,
Germany, a catalyst for the Protestant Reformation.
·
1999
Catholic and Lutheran leaders issued the Joint
Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification (JDDJ), stating they share
"a common understanding of our justification by God's grace through faith
in Christ" (paragraph 5).
Now
that we've had a while to ruminate on this semester's book, in what ways are we
like both the younger son and the older son? Here's a video explaining
Rembrandt's Return of the Prodigal Son: https://youtu.be/G8NQL1V_9Qw.
It turns out there are autobiographical elements in the painting. To what
extent do we embody characteristics we saw in the two brothers?
